Kitchen Warehouse, Australia’s no. 1 in kitchenware, opens first NSW store
PRESS RELEASE, 16 SEPTEMBER 2019
Leading national kitchenware retailer Kitchen Warehouse is excited to announce that it is finally setting foot in New South Wales, with its newest store opening at the Penrith Homemaker Centre on 21 September 2019.
Aside from being its first in the state, Kitchen Warehouse Penrith is also the company’s 14th large-format store nationwide.
“We have been waiting for the opportunity to establish our first store in New South Wales and we couldn’t be happier to be finally doing it this year,” said Chief Executive Peter Macaulay.
“We’ve always wanted to get our foot in the door. We have a sizeable online customer base from the state so there has been quite the clamour to open stores here,” he explained.
“In addition, our warehouse in Smithfield predates our stores in the eastern states. We built that not only to improve logistical efficiency and customer experience, but also with the view of supporting a network of stores we will develop in New South Wales.”
Macaulay continued, “Having a physical presence in New South Wales is key to our continued growth and we are confident that Penrith will be the anchor of our expansion in the state.”
Kitchen Warehouse is a wholly family-owned business established in Perth in 1996. It already had a well-established presence in Perth, with seven stores in the metropolitan area, before it embarked on a national expansion.
In 2017, it opened two stores in Victoria (Preston and Moorabbin) and one in Queensland (North Lakes). It followed up with two stores in Queensland (Bundall and Fortitude Valley) and another in Victoria (Box Hill) in 2018.
“We are heartened by the reception we have received in all of our new locations. So despite a challenging retail landscape, we feel strongly about continuing our national store rollout,” said Macaulay.
As Australia’s no. 1 in kitchenware, Kitchen Warehouse offers the widest selection of products for the kitchen and home, with about 10,000 products available online and 5500 available in stores. It also enables store customers to shop from its online range through digital devices installed in-store.
Kitchen Warehouse also provides cooking and entertaining inspiration through in-store activities, on top of content available through its digital channels. Each of its stores is fitted with a working kitchen that serves as a hub of in-store activities.
“We have a working kitchen in each of our store where there is always something cooking. On any given day, there could be a team member trying out a new recipe, workshops where our customers are learning new things, or a high-profile event with a celebrity chef,” said Macaulay.
“There is simply no other national player like us with a fully integrated retail and digital offering, massive retail spaces, and top-notch customer service. We’ve received tremendous support from the local communities we are a part of simply because our customers have never encountered the experience we offer elsewhere,” he added.
“We offer an exciting in-store experience like no other and we are incredibly glad to bring this to our customers in New South Wales.”
Kitchen Warehouse Penrith will hold its grand opening on Saturday 5 October 2019. Baker and Just Desserts author Charlotte Ree will be in-store for a live demonstration where customers will be able to try her freshly baked sweet treats.
Exclusive and highly limited deals on top brands and products will also be available on the opening weekend of October 5th and 6th.
Kitchen Warehouse Penrith is located at the Penrith Homemaker Centre, 13-23 Patty Place, Penrith, New South Wales.
