I am a culinary student, who wanted a quick way to properly sharpen my knives both at home and in class. This diamond steel has exceeded my expectations! The best factor about using diamond steel over a stone is being able to use it like a regular honing steel. It's super quick, requires no mats or lubricant, yet provides the same result. My knives during class remain razor-sharp with a few quick passes on the diamond steel, while I've managed to restore the old knives at home to near-new condition.
